video games & cameras

I love watching you play video games

But you never believe me when I say I do

And in a way

You’re right

I just like to be with you

It’s been years since I wrote this, and I feel like a completely different person now. These days I can’t imagine just sitting around doing nothing all day. Don’t get me wrong, I used to go to parks a fair amount, but I didn’t really go out and meet new people. Now I work 2 jobs and still find the time to visit parks multiple times a week, and to go out to bars and cafes a couple times, too! Plus, I’m reading more.

What I’m getting at is that it’s good to leave your comfort zone! Driving used to give me anxiety, and now I take the long route just for fun. (Did I tell you that I got a car? Since taking a second job, I would have been spending 5-6 hours on the bus. Could I do that? Sure. It would just mean waking up at 3am and getting home at 11pm. I love public transit, I really do! But I also love sleep, and free time.) Talking with strangers used to be uncomfortable, and now I look forward to meeting new people.

In fact, talking with strangers is one of my new favorite hobbies! That, and photography.

So I was at the bar and met these 2 guys. One was a photographer. He asked if I had an Instagram account, and when he saw it he asked what camera I used. Just my phone, I told him. He could help me sell my photography, he said. Sure, why not? What have I got to lose? I was a little tipsy and didn’t think anything of it; people say they’ll help with xy&z all the time at bars just to keep the conversation alive or to feel impressive or something. I don’t know. We set up a pizza date for the following evening and I forgot all about photography.

Before the date, this guy texted me that he had a surprise for me. It was his Nikon camera with 3 different lenses!

The camera isn’t mine to keep, of course. I’ve had it for 2 weeks and will be giving it back this Sunday. As of now, I’ve got around 450 shots that I’m relatively happy with. Hopefully I can get that number to 500 before Sunday!

I can’t wait to show you some of the shots! And who knows, maybe you’ll start to see my photos pop up in art galleries…😎

Thank you so much for visiting!
