I want you to be you, and me to be me I want to be together, independently. You push me to grow and you treat me well Let's take it day by day, cause only time will tell!
Happy Saturday, y’all! It’s a crisp and rainy day here in Seattle, perfect for a bottomless cuppa and a good book. This is one of the first typical rainy Seattle days I’ve experienced and I love it so far, although I’m only 3 hours into my day and might still change my mind. But so far, so good!
Maybe you remember back in late May, I wrote a little bit about my snap decision to come to Seattle with my friend Alex. Well, I’m still here, still unemployed, and pretty soon Alex will be going out to sea for a couple months straight, leaving me here alone. It’s okay, I knew what I was getting into when I came out here!
Since we’ve been here, we’ve been in a riot together, protested and marched with the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality, and spent a lot of time in the CHAZ/CHOP (Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone/Occupied Protest).
Plus, I’m reading more, writing more, and running more. I’ve gotten over my fear of walking around alone, and finally feel comfortable riding city buses. It’s not a lot, but for me its all felt incredibly freeing.
With that feeling of freedom has come a determination to make Freshly Stale the best that it can be! Sure, I wanted to do that while I was in Ohio, too, but I just didn’t have the motivation. Most days, I didn’t even have the motivation to get out of bed. Maybe I was depressed, I’m not a doctor so I don’t know, but I certainly wasn’t happy. Not like I am now.
Introducing Sappy Saturdays
This new found motivation and determination has helped me craft a plan of action for Freshly Stale during this last month. It still needs work, but it’s a start! So get ready for a lot more content. Like, a lot more. Each day will have its own theme, and Saturdays will be dedicated to poetry. Probably sappy, cheesy, sentimental poetry. What can I say, I’m a hopeless romantic.
My ex says I’m addicted to the honeymoon phase in relationships. He says that as soon as that feeling fades, I’ll be just as miserable here in Seattle as I was back in Ohio. I don’t think that’s true though.
Sure, I like the honeymoon phase. But ya know what I like even more than that? Independence, freedom, and a good challenge. Otherwise, I’ll get bored. Ohio wasn’t challenging, not in the way that I needed it to be. Ohio was comfortable. Seattle isn’t very comfortable, not really. I love it!
See, until I can find a job, I’m financially dependant on my roomie. Neither one of us likes that. At all. It’s been just the motivation I’ve needed to kick my butt into gear! Well, that and the thought of travelling. How can I travel the world comfortably with my friend if I’m not financially independent? There’s no way I could ask him to cover all of my expenses, and there’s absolutely no way that I’m not going to travel with him, so success is my only option.
In 3 Months Time, I Will…
In 3 months time, I will be successful. And I’ll make sure to tell you exactly how I do it, so that you can do the same! We’ll talk about blogging, social media, freelancing, and writing. And I’ll share some poems, recipes, and personal advice with you, too, just for fun.
How will I make Freshly Stale a success? With lot’s of hard work! I’ll post every day from now on, unless something extreme happens. The posts will be informational, educational, or entertaining. Hopefully they’ll be all three!
But how will I make money from this blog? I’ll write ebooks full of all the things I learn on this journey, as well as some recipe books and poetry books. I’ll make printables for journaling, studying, and planning. And some printable cards with my poetry and illustrations, too. Eventually I’ll put together some courses, and offer membership packages for access to exclusive content. But rest assured, I won’t ever allow ads on Freshy Stale. They’re just ugly, intrusive, and annoying. If I ever decide to do any affiliate marketing, and I don’t plan on it, but if I ever do, then it will only ever be for products that I personally use and love. We’ll see what happens. After all, only time will tell!
What sort of printables would you like to see on Freshly Stale? Let me know in the comments, and check in tomorrow to hear about the importance of a good social media presence for blogs and businesses! Thanks for reading😊
