Hello everyone! It’s such a beautiful day today here in Ohio, the weather is warming up a bit and the grass is almost turning green 🌞 Spring is on the way! And this kind of weather always makes me want to do a couple of things. First and foremost is spring cleaning, but this isn’t a cleaning blog so we’re not gonna talk about that.
Secondly, it looks nice out which makes me want to do something, to go somewhere, but it’s still only 40 degrees Fahrenheit so I don’t really want to leave the house. Luckily, I’ve already done some spring cleaning and my arts and crafts supplies are all nice and organized and ready to be put to use!
Even though I’m not gonna be exploring the outdoors today, it doesn’t mean I can’t do any exploring, right?
Art is just an exploration of the imagination!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to have too much creative freedom; it’s overwhelming. There’s just too many options when anything is possible. I like to work within parameters, I like to have a basic plan of action, but I totally stink at making them myself(for now).
I’m totally in love with this art style and am super thrilled to be sharing this layered color exploration with you today, and eventually, with my classes 🎨 Be sure to check out more of the posts over at Make Art… Magic Happens! The name is spot on, magic really does happen over there 💖
Greetings…Today’s post is multi layers of color. I started with painting a pattern with watercolor. I then lightly drew the flower shape and painted a thin glaze of bright blue over the background. I added several layers of colored pencil texture so the flower color would pop. I’m happy with the results.
These two designs were made several years ago, similar technique.
