Learning to Teach

Hello everyone! I miss you! Sorry for being away for so long. I haven’t really been busy, I just haven’t really felt poetic and sentimental and all that so I haven’t really been writing any content that would work with this site. 😳

Instead, I’ve gone and made another website! It’s completely different from this one in terms of subject matter, but it looks pretty much the same, just different colors. But that’s not what I want to talk about today.

I wanted to talk to you today about my new job!

See, I’ve been unemployed since graduating college in December. Well, since before then, too, but whatever. This blog has been a way for me to pass the time while job hunting. And it’s been fun! But I haven’t been too incredibly sure of the direction it was heading in, or if it was heading anywhere at all.

Come March, I won’t just be an indie poet/blogger, I’ll also be a teacher!!👩‍🏫👩‍🎨

What will I be teaching? Creative writing and art!

I’ll be teaching classes for all ages, so I’m not 100% sure what to expect yet.

So in a way, I guess this is like an eviction warning for Freshly Stale. Ha! Just being dramatic; don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. But there’s gonna be a few changes around here. Probably a lot more stories.

I want to chronicle my journey learning how to be a teacher! See, I don’t have a teaching degree or certificate or anything, I’ll just be teaching extra-curriculars and supplemental classes. I get to make my own curriculum and syllabus. I’m so excited! After 16 straight years of being a student, I’ll get to see how well I can teach what I learned. They say teaching is the best way to learn, too, so it’s like I’m starting school all over again.🏫

I don’t start til March, which gives me 9 days to get things ready. It’s a bit of a crunch, but it’s doable!

You know what this means, right?

The next few days are gonna be filled with color coding, bullet-journaling, pens, and Pinterest! It’s like a dream come true!! And what kind of stuff will I be doing? Arts and crafts and everything DIY and story writing! Encouraging people to be themselves, to express themselves! I can’t think of a better way to grow as a person. 🌹

I’ll be keeping you updated, but for now I’ve got a lot of planning to do!

Til we meet again, friend! ~ Sam💖
